Finally a nice day to ride!

So finally we had a nice day after nearly a week of depressing rain and chilly September weather. I went to the barn and brought Aiden in from his pasture, and then did the usual groom, tack, put boots on, and led him out to the mounting block to get on. The grey OTTB, Diego, was being ridden in the outdoor ring so of course Aiden was far more interested in the other horse (like he doesn't see multiple horses every day) than the fact I was trying to get on, oohh four year olds...after I got on we walked up to the outdoor ring, and proceeded to walk around a few times. Oh and might I add he absolutely LOVES his new bit, I decided to splurge and get a Herm Sprenger RS dee ring snaffle and wow, what a difference. He was always good in his previous bit, a Sprenger KK loose ring, but this one is just awesome and it increases salivation too. He's happy, light in the hand, and takes contact immediately regardless what length my reins are. Anyway, back to my ride...so I did quite a bit of transitions, walk-halt, walk-trot, and vice versa. Also serpentines, 20m circles, figure eights, going across the diagonal, and then did some canter work - just once around in each direction. Aiden was super as usual and I ended with a round stretchy trot on the buckle once around to the left, change of direction, and then the same thing around to the right. After walking around a couple more times, we left the ring and walked around and back down to the barn. Such a good boy, I hopefully will go back tomorrow or Saturday to ride.
